Our history

DSC Attorneys (De Vries Shields Chiat Incorporated) came into being in May 2004 when three firms, each with a long history in the field of personal injury law, merged. The firms that combined their resources and extensive experience to create DSC Attorneys included:

De Vries (Cape Town) Inc, which was established in 1999 as the Cape Town branch of De Vries Inc of Sandton and specialised in personal injury law and property law.
Mostert & Bosman, which was founded more than 100 years ago; its Cape Town partnership specialised in personal injury law and conveyancing.
Henry Shields Chiat (HSC), a highly respected personal injury law firm in the Western Cape; the latest volume of Corbett & Honey, the Quantum of Damages (widely used by personal injury practitioners) contains numerous cases handled by HSC that made law.

We continue to engage in ongoing legal training relevant to our areas of specialisation. Several of our attorneys are AMA Certified, as well as having attended courses in inter alia Medical Law, the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI).
